CastHero Privacy Policy

Effective 3 September 2026

CastHero ("the app") is a Roku channel that plays media you send to it over your home network. This policy explains what the app does with information. The short version: the app collects nothing, stores nothing, and sends nothing to us.

Information the app receives

The app receives only the commands that a device on your local network sends to your Roku: a media address (URL), an optional title, artist and artwork address, playlist settings such as photo timing and transition, and playback commands such as pause or stop. The app uses these solely to fetch and play the media on your TV.

Information the app does not collect

Media you cast

The Roku downloads the media directly from the address you send, in the same way a web browser would. The operator of that address (for example your own phone, a cloud storage service or a public website) may see the Roku's IP address and standard request information. That is governed by the operator's own privacy policy, not by this one.

Local network

Casting works over your local Wi-Fi network using Roku's External Control Protocol. Any device on the same network can send media to the Roku while the app is installed. If you share your network with people you do not trust, you can disable network control in the Roku settings under System, Advanced system settings, Control by mobile apps.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Roku

Roku, Inc. operates the Roku platform and Streaming Store and may collect usage information about channels according to the Roku privacy policy. The developer of CastHero has no access to personal information from Roku.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
